Cancellation Non-Policy

Generally I have a Non-Policy for cancellations.  Meaning that I believe that my clients are generally considerate and as such aren’t prone to last-minute cancellations.

I recognize that double-bookings happen, people catch the flu or sometimes have to suddenly attend to a family emergency or contend with any number of valid and significant reasons to need to reschedule.  I also realize that most people recognize the significance and the need to provide proper notice for cancellations and that we all generally try hard to avoid last minute changes of this nature.  I know that you’ll be as courteous around this issue as you are able and I truly appreciate this.

I do have one exception to this ‘Non-Policy’ that may surprise you. I don’t intend to ever implement it but rather I am primarily including it here to bring up the issue and to make my position known.

As a father to a (right now 8-1/2 month old) baby boy, I am very careful not to bring anything home to my son or wife that may make them ill.  To this end I request the right to know if you aren’t feeling well or feel that you may be contagious with some cold or flu virus that may be communicable.

In other words: If you’re feeling under-the-weather, PLEASE just call me, say so, and we’ll reschedule.  No questions asked.  I don’t ever want someone feel that they have to get their session because I will charge them otherwise.  And I definitely don’t want to bring any bugs home for the family.  Therefore, if I should arrive at a session and find that my client is exhibiting symptoms of a possible virus and I suspect a reasonable possibility of spreading a virus, I will excuse myself and we can pick another date via phone or email.

Thank you for respecting my attempts to protect my family’s wellness.

Best,
Joshua Guffey
