I’ve never had a professional massage. What should I expect?

All clients are professionally draped with clean sheets to maintain professional discretion & client comfort. Meaning that you will be covered at all times with the exception of the area being addressed. You will never be exposed in any inappropriate way.

Is it sexual?

No, absolutely not. Our massage sessions are always professional with your best interests at heart.

Do I have to take off all of my clothes?

No, you may leave on any clothing that you wish so that you may feel totally secure during your session.

What’s the best thing to do about my clothes?

It is possible to work through clothes, however, in order to provide the very best session to you, it is ideal to remove the outer clothing in order to allow you to experience the most relaxing and enjoyable session. This allows for the best possible ‘flow’ of your massage by eliminating anything additional that I might need to ‘fuss’ with during your session.

As an example, a necklace will interfere with massage of your neck. Often a client may wish to leave their underwear or rings on; this is totally fine and acceptable.

Will the Massage Therapist bring his own table and supplies?

Yes. I will bring everything necessary for a professional massage therapy session in the comfort of your home.

How much space will I need in my home for the session?

About as much space as a twin bed. The massage table is actually a little bit smaller than this but I’ll need a little room to move around the table during the session. I’ve always been able to do a fantastic session when I’ve come to anyone’s home. Space is usually not an issue. Also, I will gladly help you to move a coffee table or other small furniture to the side to create space.

How much time should I plan on scheduling for the session?

Usually you’ll want to plan an extra 30 minutes in addition to the length of your massage for discussion of what areas of tension you experience and what you would like to get out of your session. This also allows time for your massage therapist to set up the table and cleanup afterwards. If you are a new client plan a little extra still for introductions, etc…

What length session should I choose?

My personal favorite, by far, is the 90 minute session. This amount of time allows one to let go of their thoughts, concerns and expectations and become fully present in their body. It also provides the most benefit from your session and for your money. This is especially true if you are new to massage or if it has been more than a month since you received a massage.

How often should I be getting massage?

This is different for everyone. Most people find that a maintenance schedule of every 3-6 weeks works very well for them. Those who have physical jobs, chronic pain or are recovering from injuries find that a more frequent schedule is appropriate for them. Your massage therapist can recommend a schedule that is appropriate for you based on your specific situation and needs.
